Existence of any policies on mandatory nutrition labeling for packaged foods

Definition

"Yes” indicates that a policy is in place that requires mandatory nutrition labeling even in the absence of a nutrition or health claim. Many countries that are not marked with "Yes" require nutrition labels, but only when nutrition or health claims are made.

Relevance

The WHO recommends the use of standardized nutritional labeling to help consumers make healthy food choices (WHO 2016).

Treatment of Missing Values

Countries with missing data are either ones that do not have a policy or they only require nutrition labels when nutrition and health claims are made.
