Outcomes Noncommunicable diseases

Probability of dying between 30-70 years from cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and chronic respiratory disease

Definition

Proportion of 30 year olds who would die before their 70th birthday from cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, or chronic respiratory disease, assuming that they would experience current mortality rates at every age and they would not die from any other cause of death such as injuries or HIV/AIDS.

Relevance

As countries undergo epidemiologic and nutrition transitions, the development of noncommunicable diseases is shifting to younger age groups.
