Definition

Proportion of adults aged 15 years and older living in a rural area who have an account (by themselves or together with someone else) at a bank or other type of financial institution or personally use a mobile money service.

Relevance

Access to credit may improve farmers' ability to procure important inputs, including seeds or fertilizer, or productive assets. This indicator measures access to credit in the rural sector; however, does not measure access to credit specifically among farmers or farmers associations.
