Biofortified crops released, in testing, or in the pipeline: zinc wheat

Definition

This indicator highlights countries where biofortified zinc wheat have been developed and released for sale, are undergoing testing, or are currently being developed by scientists.

Relevance

Biofortified crops are crops that have been bred using traditional methods to deliberately increase nutrient content. Current evidence suggest that consumption of biofortified crops may reduce micronutrient deficiencies in at-risk populations.

Treatment of Missing Values

Countries with missing data do not have biofortification crops in production or in testing or are countries for which no evidence indicating work on biofortified crops could be identified from the survey or desk review.
