Existence of any policies on marketing of junk foods to children

Definition

Existence of policies to reduce the impact of marketing foods and non-alcoholic beverages high in saturated fats, trans fats, added sugars, or salt on children. This indicator is based on those countries who have responded “Yes” to the question “Is your country implementing any policies to reduce the impact on children of marketing foods and non-alcoholic beverages high in saturated fats, trans-fatty acids, free sugars, or salt?"

Relevance

Some studies have found that increased advertising to children was associated with increased consumption of junk food (Andreyeva et al. 2011).

Treatment of Missing Values

Countries with missing data are either ones that do not have a policy or it is unclear if they have a national policy.
