FSCI

Definition

A composite index based on a subset of indicators from the Social Capital pillar of the Legatum Prosperity Index, which assesses social cohesion and engagement, community and family networks, and political participation and institutional trust. The social capital index used here is a composite of the indicators of "Help from family & friends ”; “Generalized interpersonal trust ”; “Confidence in financial institutions ”; and “Public trust in politicians or confidence in national government ”, based on the relevance of these indicators to resilience. The index is calculated as the geometric mean of the four variables, each measured on a scale that ranges from 0 (low) to 100 (high).
