Definition

Proportion of the population age 15 years and older who consumed instant noodles or fast food during the previous day or night.

Relevance

Instant noodles and fast food are ultraprocessed foods that typically have high calorie density, high sodium content, and often high fat and saturated fat content and thus should be limited. Excessive conusumption may increase the risk of overweight and obesity and diet-related noncommunicable diseases. Consumption of one serving often exceeds the WHO limit on salt per day.
