Age 15+: Healthy Diet Pattern for prevention of chronic disease

Definition

Proportion of the population who met all six of the following criteria: consumed (a) at least one fruit, (b) at least one vegetable, (c) at least one whole grain, legume, nut, or seed; (d) no more than one sugary food or beverage and no soft drinks; (e) no more than one salty ultra-processed food; (f) no processed meat.

Relevance

This indicator is a proxy for adherence to WHO recommendations for the prevention of diet-related NCDs. It includes the rationale and validation results for both the Protective Food Consumption (PFC) and Unhealthy Food Consumption (UFC) indicators.
